Donald Francis Schildgen, 87, of Indianapolis passed away on October 21, 2025, at Community East Hospital. Donald was born on April 23, 1938, in Joliet, Illinois to Frank and Amelia (Kahlert) Schildgen. Donald worked for Jug’s Catering at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was also a yellow shirt for the Safety Team at the Motor Speedway. Donald was a driver for Carey Transportation and was a volunteer making over 500 trips to the Shriner Hospitals for Children throughout the country. Donald was a member of Indianapolis Lodge No. 669 F.&A.M, the Murat Shrine, where he also served with the Police Club and the Eagles Lodge.
Donald is survived by his children: Donna (Gayron) Ferguson and Pamela (Ed) Franklin; sisters: Hildegard June Schildgen, Karen Kay Ecklund; brothers: Gerald “Jerry” Schildgen and Karl Francis Schildgen. Also, he leaves behind multiple grandkids, great grandkids and great great grandkids Donald was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marjorie Ann Krajewski.
A memorial service with Masonic Rites will be held for Donald on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Murat Shrine, 510 North New Jersey Street Indianapolis. Memorial Contributions for Donald may be directed to The Hugs Project of Western Kentucky 4931 Epperson Road Paducah, KY 42003.
