Diane Autry Obituary

Diane Lynn Autry, 68, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 3, 2025.

Born in Mooresville, IN, on January 9, 1957, to Hobert and Arlene Garrett, Diane spent many years working as a housekeeper before retiring. She was an incredible cook—her meals were always a hit, but nothing topped her chicken and dumplings, a favorite of her husband, Rick. She and Rick also shared a love for horror movies and spent countless nights watching their favorites together. Diane had a soft spot for cats and cozy blankets, and one of her most cherished gifts was a cat-themed blanket from her sister.

Family meant everything to Diane. She adored her son and grandchildren, and her bond with her siblings was unbreakable. She and her sister Wanda were especially close—living just a few blocks apart but still spending hours on the phone. They loved hitting up flea markets, auctions, and BINGO nights together, full of laughter and mischief.

Though she was taken too soon, Diane is now at peace, reunited with the loved ones who went before her.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Richard “Rick” Autry; her son, Ronnie (Carolyn) Rice; her sister, Angie Jett; her brothers, Hobert Garrett and Chris Garrett; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, Hobert and Arlene Garrett; her sisters, Wanda Lloyd and Brenda Qualizza;  her brothers, Mac Garrett and Richard Garrett; and a great-grandson.
