Derrick “White Boi Flossin D-rick” Gaskey Obituary

Derrick Adam Gaskey, affectionately known as "White Boi Flossin D-rick" to his friends, passed away on June 21, 2024, at the age of 42. Derrick was born on April 13, 1982, in Indianapolis, IN.

Derrick was a vibrant personality, renowned for his humor, wit, and passionate nature. His life was marked by an exuberant and colorful character. Those who knew him described him as funny, fun, exasperating, silly, stubborn, quick-witted, quirky, loud, smart, sassy, and passionate. He had a unique way of making every interaction memorable, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Derrick's linguistic flair and fierce loyalty to those he believed in made him a true warrior in the eyes of his loved ones. He had an innate ability to lift the spirits of those around him with his humor and charm. His friends and family often marveled at his quick wit and the way he could turn any situation into a memorable moment.

A talented musician, Derrick loved singing, tried his best at dancing, and was very gifted on the keyboard and self-taught on the violin. Music was a significant part of his life, and he found joy in sharing his talents with others. Whether he was performing for a crowd or playing a tune for friends, his passion for music shone through.

Derrick was always a good sport about jokes at his expense and delighted in making others laugh. His sense of humor was infectious, and he had a knack for finding joy in the little things. He cherished the moments of laughter shared with friends and family, and his ability to see the lighter side of life endeared him to many. 

Derrick leaves behind many people who loved him, including his son Dayton Gaskey; brother Darron Coy; father Steve Gaskey; best friend and roommate Bryan Taylor; his ride or die Alicia Underhill; the love of his life, Leafy Dunnam; and his mother, as well as countless extended family members and friends. Each of these individuals held a special place in Derrick's heart, and his love for them was evident in the way he lived his life.

Derrick's vibrant spirit and memorable interactions will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated, and his presence brought light and joy to those around him. His humor, music, and unwavering loyalty will continue to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we remember Derrick, we celebrate a life lived with passion, love, and an unyielding zest for life. He touched the hearts of many. Derrick's memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and music that he shared with us all.
