Dennis “Red” Sutton, age 73, passed away on July 20, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on April 21, 1952, in Glasgow, Kentucky, Dennis lived a life marked by dedication to his family and a love for the outdoors.
A skilled mechanic by trade, Dennis took great pride in his work. His passion for fixing and building was more than a profession—it was a lifelong calling. Outside the garage, he found joy in hunting, embracing the peace and challenge of the outdoors.
Dennis was a devoted husband to Lilly Sutton of 47 years, and a proud father and grandfather. Known affectionately as “Red,” he especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren—sharing stories, teaching skills, and creating cherished memories.
Among his proudest moments were marrying the love of his life, Lilly Sutton, and becoming a grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife Lilly Sutton; children Kathy (David) Oakes and Danny (Jody) Marsh; grandchildren Regina (John), Scottie (Michelle), Suzy (Jason), Richie (Krystal), Jessica (Brian), Cortney (Rickey), Skilar, Melody, and Tiara; and 21 great-grandchildren who brought joy to his later years. He also leaves behind siblings James, Mary, and Francis.
Dennis was preceded in death by his daughter Brandy Felton; his parents James Earl and Winny Ethel Sutton; and his brother George Sutton.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services, 1420 Prospect Street. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., also at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Following the funeral service Dennis will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Garden.
Dennis “Red” Sutton will be remembered for the pride he took in both family and work. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
