Deanna Scruggs, a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on August 10, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on December 21, 1939, in Lafollette, Tennessee, Deanna was the cherished daughter of Robert and Gertrude Williams. Following her mother's remarriage, Lonnie Wade became her devoted father.
At the age of 16, Deanna's family relocated to Indianapolis, where she built a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication. She worked at Burlington Coat Factory, where she eventually retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
Deanna's passion for dancing and her unwavering generosity defined her character. She was known for always offering a helping hand, providing shelter and food to those in need.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Wade; her mother, Gertrude Wade; her ex-husband, Billy Scruggs; her son, Lonnie Scruggs; and her grandchildren, Joseph Dockins and Dylan Hendricks.
Deanna is survived by her loving children, Connie Underhill (Jimmy), Billy Scruggs (Wanda), and Donna Dockins (Joe). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Chad, Newell, Carl, James, Kimberly, Brandon, Michael, Ashley, Mason, Timmy, Joshua, Megan, and Clayton; her great-grandchildren: Connor, Jaylen, Cameron, Lacie, Ashley, Joshua, Christian, Kyndal, Ethan, Kimberly, Tyler, Mackenzie, Parker, Hailie, Harlie, Ayden, Khloe, Stephanee, Andyi, Brandon Jr., Victoria, Hope, Kaydance, Kash, Nova, Kingston, Kiera, Natalie, Donald, Emanuel, McKensie, Ezra, Emmit, Alaina, Trinity, Dustin, and Hunter; and her great-great-grandchildren: Kynslee, Braylee, Aubree, and Kali.
Deanna's warmth, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Fountain Square Cremation and Funeral Services on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 9:00AM until the hour of the funeral service at 11:00AM. Following the funeral service Deanna will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Garden.
