David “Dave” Allen Welch, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 6, 2025.
Born on December 12, 1950, in Indianapolis, IN, to Harold Welch and Mary (Beechler) Phelps, Dave was a jack of all trades and a skilled carpenter. He had a love for the outdoors and nature, especially fishing and hunting.
Known affectionately as “Davy Baby” to his sister Carolyn and as the “Junkfood Junkie” to everyone else, Dave’s fun-loving spirit was undeniable. He had a talent for making people laugh, whether it was through his dancing or his antics as the class clown. He never cared how silly he looked, as long as it brought a smile to someone’s face.
Dave had a big heart and a warm presence that made him deeply loved by his family and friends. His love, laughter, and generosity will be remembered always.
He is survived by his children David Welch, Ross Allen, and Tina Marie Brown; his siblings Carolyn Roberts, Marilyn and Marvin Morris, Danny and Ruby Welch, and Marsha Felks; his stepsiblings Barbara and Becky; the nieces and nephew he raised as his own, Kimberly and Bradley Bayne, Melody Deaton, and Gregory Deaton; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in passing by his father Harold Welch; mother Mary Phelps; and siblings Gene, Mark, Dale, Darlene, Linda, and Mike.
