Obituary: David Rex Simmons (1961-2024)

David Rex Simmons, aged 62, passed away on February 15, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on April 3, 1961, David was the son of Harvey Simmons and Carla "Jean" (Hendricks) Asher.

David dedicated himself to serving his children and Church.  He retired from the Postal Service as a tractor-trailer driver. He was known for his strong work ethic and adaptability.

Outside of work, David found joy in fishing, especially when accompanied by his son, David. He was an avid supporter of the Indianapolis Colts and a loyal fan of Indiana University sports. David enjoyed spending time with loved ones over Chinese cuisine and was known for his outgoing and sociable nature.

David's faith played a central role in his life, and he was a devoted member of the Independent Nazarene Church for many years.

David is survived by his children, Amber (John) Casey, Carlene (Matthew) Smith, and David (Allexandrya) Roach, as well as his grandchildren, Joseph, Isabella, Meliah, Rylan, Carter, and Rhaelynn. He also leaves behind a sister and several nieces and nephews. David is preceded in death by his father, Harvey Simmons, his mother, Jean Asher, and a sister.

Though David has left this world, he will be remembered fondly by those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
