David Thomas Mathis

David Thomas Mathis passed on December 3, 2025.  He was born on March 15, 1959, to the union of Johnny and Besty Mathis in Indianapolis, Indiana.  David graduated from Shortridge High School.  

In December 1978, David married Margaret Hicks.  They were married for 47 years.  He loved his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Besty Mathis and his sister, Kathy Kelly.  David is survived by his three brothers: Johnny Mathis of Vancouver, Washington, Steve Mathis of Dallas, Texas, and Gerald Mathis of Indianapolis, Indiana.  He also had a host of nieces and nephews and a close friend, Wayne Echo.  

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 11am-1pm at Fountain Square Funeral Home, 1420 Prospect Street, Indianapolis, IN.  Funeral service will begin at 1pm with burial to follow at Sutherland Park Cemetery.
