David Allen Jones

David Allen Jones, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

He was born March 6, 1951, in Earle, Arkansas to the late and loving, Ray Field & Annie Lee (Reynolds) Jones.

David Allen accepted Christ in his early twenties, under the leadership of the late, Reverend David Lee, Sr. of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

David Allen left his hometown at a very early age, traveling to Florida, New York, and then settled in the state of Indiana. He married his beloved Erdell on January 8, 1977, and remained married until death did them part.

He began his career as a construction worker and retired after 20 years with the same company. David Allen built a legacy that was less traditional but will carry weight for generations to come. He was a man who carried values of a different era. A man who believed responsibilities, family, and standing firm in the role he was called to play in this lifetime. He was the protector of the women in his life, he did not take kindly to any disrespect to his wife. To disrespect her was to disrespect him, and it was the same when it came to his daughters, granddaughters, sisters, and nieces. He loved them fiercely and made sure they were covered. When it came to the boys, he worked to instill those same core values in them. He also took his sons, and nephew under his wing to teach them how to fish and hunt. This was done not merely as a pastime, but a true teaching of patience, survival, discipline, and respect for life. Speaking of hunting, he wasn’t the traditional hunter either. Let’s just say that I’m sure we’ve all experienced one of his gourmet meals that could range from deer or maybe even stewed squirrel. Whatever he had brewing in his pot always turned out to be the best “Chicken” you’ve ever eaten.

David Allen was a quiet man of strength. He didn’t have to announce his accomplishments; his stability spoke for itself. He stayed sharp as a tac, being a suit and tie type of man that always had the matching shoes and watch. He had style, confidence, and a way of making an impression without seeking attention. David Allen leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of almost 50 years, Erdell (Washington) Jones; sons, David Jr., Ray, & Curtis Jones; daughters, Felicia, Yolanda, & Cassandra Jones; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ola & John Ward, Terry & Jimmy Perryman, and Carolyn Foster; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Annie Mae Washington; sisters, Annie Hollowell & Lela Jones; brothers, JB, Elvis, & James Jones; brother-in-law, Johnny Foster, Sr.; daughter, Crystal Jones; grandson, Steven Brown; granddaughter, Maniya Jones; nieces, Deborah Ann Quinn & Crystal Risper; and nephew, Brian Ward, Jr.

Visitation will be from 1-2:00 P.M. Friday, June 26, 2026, at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services.
