Daniel James Senteney, 67, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 11, 2024.
Daniel was a man known for living every day to the fullest and a deep love for his family. He attended Lincoln Tech College and turned his knowledge into a lifelong career, working as a mechanic for Kitley Race Track at the Speedrome and eventually owning a used car dealership. His love for racing and cars was unmatched, and he was infamous for his love of the sport.
Sports in particular were a constant in Daniel’s life—whether it was racing, basketball, or football, college or professional, you could always find a game on at his house. Never one to take himself too seriously, he lived life with a sense of humor and laid-back attitude, once famously marrying his first wife at just 18 years old, dressed in a tank top, shorts, and tube socks.
Daniel was loving and kind yet tough when he needed to be, raising his stepdaughters with both fun and guidance. From epic snowball fights to donuts in the school parking lot, he made sure there were always moments of excitement. Despite his lighthearted nature, he carried himself with strength and unwavering support for those he loved, and he was the type of man people depended on. He will be missed.
He is survived by his mother, Edna Senteney; his second wife, Leann Senteney; his sisters, Pamela Patterson and Donna Gore; his brothers, Donald Senteney Jr. and Rex Senteney; his children, Daniel (Holly) Senteney II and Anthony Senteney; his stepdaughters, Candy (Brian) Sowders, Judy (Mike Reynolds) Jones, and Lisa (Larry Springer) Brown; four stepchildren from his second marriage as well as 4 step-grandchildren; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in passing by his father, Donald Senteney Sr.; his grandparents, Stephen and Elsie Senteney and Melvin and Violet Burkey; his first wife, Kathy A. Senteney; his daughter, Christine Senteney; and his brother, Keith Senteney.
