July 5, 1948 – August 27, 2024
Charles Lyle Stevens, 76, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on July 5, 1948, in Olney, Illinois, Charles lived a life marked by dedication, creativity, and service. Before earning his degree in architecture from the University of Miami, Charles worked alongside his parents in construction, building homes and apartment complexes throughout central and southern Indiana. This early experience laid the foundation for his future success as an architect, where his hands-on knowledge of construction informed his innovative designs and commitment to excellence.
Before embarking on his career as an architect, Charles served his country as a proud member of the United States Air Force. His time in the military instilled in him a strong sense of duty and discipline, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.
Charles was known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his deep love for his family and his generous spirit. He is survived by his son, Charles Stevens II (Amber); his beloved grandchildren, Zachary Stevens, Jacob Stevens, Nytalia Mapes, and Tatiana Patterson; his brother, Robert Louis Enlow; his sister, Susan Enlow; many nieces and nephews; his dear cousins, Kay Ferguson and Kathleen Davis; as well as his ex-wife and dear friend, Debra Stevens. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louise Stevens. His family and friends will forever cherish his memory and the legacy he leaves behind.
A service to celebrate Charles' life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 6th, at Crown Hill Columbaria Annex. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) in Charles' honor, supporting ongoing research and efforts to find a cure.
