Chad Walker Preston, 50, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 26, 2025.
Born in Beech Grove, IN, on February 15, 1975, to Linda (Miller) Preston, Chad was a passionate cook (and a baker!) who dedicated over 30 years to the craft. His love for the kitchen took him all the way to Manhattan, where he lived from 2001 to 2009 before returning to Indiana.
Family was everything to Chad. He was his mother’s full-time caregiver until his own health declined. In his younger years, he had a love for skateboarding, and that adventurous spirit never faded. A lifelong gamer, he had a particular love for Star Wars and space-themed games. He was also a talented artist, a devoted tattoo enthusiast, and had a deep appreciation for all things metal—from death and black metal to speed and everything in between.
Chad had a love for the unusual, which was evident in his prized ’72 Cadillac hearse. He got a kick out of running errands in it with his family, turning everyday moments into unforgettable memories.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Preston; his sister, Jennifer (Scott) Floyd; his niece, Savanna (Andrew) Chris; his nephew, Steven Dollahan; his great-niece, Luna; his beloved 12-year-old cat, Sobek; and many extended family members and friends.
Chad is reunited with his fiancée Mary Riget in heaven.
