Caroline Marie Holmes, renowned for her baking mastery and beloved by family and friends, passed away on May 9, 2024, in Indianapolis at the age of 90. She was born on July 22, 1933, in Braddock, PA, to John and Pauline Irene Feola.
From her earliest years, Caroline demonstrated devotion to her family. Sacrificing her education, she committed herself to supporting and nurturing her siblings, showing a selflessness that would define her life. Her talents extended beyond the kitchen; she possessed a flair for sewing and crafting, filling her home with the warmth of her creativity.
Caroline's true passion lay in baking, where her skills were nothing short of extraordinary. Her culinary prowess was so exceptional that bakeries sought after her recipes, a testament to her unparalleled talent. Christmas, in particular, became a showcase for her baking genius, as she adorned her home with festive decorations and filled the air with the irresistible aroma of baked delights.
Beyond her culinary talents, Caroline was known for her love of games, especially poker and Euchre, and her enthusiasm for dance. Despite the challenges posed by age, her spirit remained undimmed, her moves on the dance floor undeterred even with the aid of a walker.
Caroline's love lives on in the hearts of her children: John, Paul, Paula, and Tony, as well as her siblings Donna, Anthony (Pat), and Annetta (Walt). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
In her passing, Caroline is reunited with her beloved husband, Blaine "Bud" Holmes, her brother Patsy, her brother-in-law Paul, and her parents, where she will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her.
