Carla Kay (Cousins) Whitfield

Carla Kay Whitfield, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away on June 27, 2022.

Carla was born Carla Kay Cousins, in Clinton, Illinois on June 23, 1943 to the late Thelma Lucille McKee and Lloyd Luel Cousins.  Carla was sunshine. She was always cheerful and she was always smiling. She never let things keep her down.  Carla was quick with a joke, and loved gossip.  She would read anything she could get her hands on and doing her crossword puzzles.  She enjoyed playing cards and watching WWE, Roman Reigns her clear favorite with John Cena not too far behind.  Carla loved football, especially the Bears and the Colts.  Nothing was as refreshing as a Pepsi, and she could be a big flirt.  Most of all, Carla was love. She loved everyone she met, she genuinely cared about others.  She would do anything for her loved ones, and often was a safe space when needed. Carla provided the comfort she could, even if she didn't understand why you were sad, she just couldn't stand to see you bear it alone.  She will be greatly missed.

Carla is survived by her niece Sarah (Michael Mullins) Matlock; her sister-in-law Brenda Pegues; and several nieces and nephews.

Carla is preceded in passing by her husband Richard Whitfield.

A Memorial Service for Carla will be 6 PM, Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 4 PM until the service.
