Bula Mae Mather, age 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 8, 2024. Born on September 28, 1947, in Monticello, Kentucky, to Marvin Brummett and Eula Eckman, Bula was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Bula spent many years as a bus driver and aide, dedicating herself to the service of others before her well-earned retirement. True to her Kentucky roots, she found joy and peace in the great outdoors. Her early years were marked by riding horses, and she maintained a lifelong passion for fishing and camping. Bula delighted in simple pleasures, such as leisurely drives to take in the sights and sounds of the world around her. Her love for adventure extended to watching races at the Speedrome whenever her health permitted.
Bluegrass music held a special place in Bula's heart, providing a constant soundtrack to her life. She was known for her boundless compassion and willingness to help anyone in need. Her kind and generous spirit touched the lives of many, and her deep love for children was clear to all who knew her. Bula was the personification of a devoted mother and grandmother, cherished by her family for her nurturing nature and unwavering support.
She is survived by her children, Tommy Collins, David Ferrell, and Paula Botello; her grandchildren, Mitchell, Ryein, and Karri; her brother, Ervin (Shirley); two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bula was preceded in passing by her parents and her siblings, Ruby, Ricky, Jesse, and Joe.
