Bruce Hizer, 82, passed away on July 8, 2023.
Bruce was born on June 6, 1941, to Bruce Hizer and Geneva (Spencer) McClellen. Bruce was a dedicated welder and fabricator, but his true passion lay in the art of trade. He had a keen eye for a good bargain and possessed a remarkable talent for striking favorable deals. He saw the hidden potential in everything, envisioning the best possible version of each item or opportunity.
An incredibly hardworking individual, Bruce exemplified a strong work ethic throughout his life. He held two full-time jobs to provide for his family, embodying the values of determination and perseverance. He was always there for those who needed his support, offering a helping hand without hesitation.
Bruce's frugality and preparedness for the future were defining traits. He understood the importance of saving for a rainy day and diligently practiced fiscal responsibility. His resourcefulness and ability to make the most of what he had were admirable qualities that he passed on to his loved ones.
Bruce held a deep affection for his pets and was fiercely protective of them. His role as a grandpa brought him immense joy, not only with his own grandchildren but also with the many children who affectionately called him grandpa. His love, guidance, and warmth made a lasting impact on their lives.
Honesty was a core value for Bruce, and he firmly believed that "a man is only as good as his word." His integrity and straightforward nature earned him the respect and admiration of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Clara (Smith) Hizer; his children Bruce, Mary, and Robert; his grandchildren Carrie, Jamie, Jessie, Sara, Adam, Carly, Hailey, Mickensey, Porter, and Kyng; his great-grandchildren Jessie, Braeden, Destiny, Anthony, Leon, and Kyndall; his brothers Mac and Faron; and many nieces, nephews, and those he considered his bonus grandchildren.
Funeral services to honor Bruce's life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Prior to the service, visitation will take place from 11 AM until the start of the service. Following the service, Bruce will be laid to rest at Concordia Cemetery.
May the memory of Bruce Hizer serve as an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the value of hard work, resourcefulness, and the importance of family. His legacy of integrity and his unwavering commitment to his loved ones will forever be cherished. May he find eternal peace, and may his spirit continue to guide and inspire us.
