Brian W. Bauer, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away January 24, 2025.
Born in Indianapolis to Walter & Margaret (Crorken) Bauer, Brian was known for his love of all and the hard work he dedicated his life to.
Brian retired from General Motors after 40 plus years and was a member of the UAW (United Auto Workers Union) Local 23. His nickname “Dynomite" was truly a testament to his fiery personality. Brian would be described as being stubborn and hard-headed. This is shown by Brian getting a part time job at Walmart, even after retiring from General Motors. He worked to provide for his family until he physically couldn’t. He always had an open door and took care of anyone who walked through it. Brian was a family man. He was married to Opal (Liz) for 46 years. He gave his children many life experiences such as camping, traveling, amusement parks, family reunions, and holiday celebrations. Those experiences live on in the lives of his grandchildren. Most people remember Brian as the man who took care of them and raised them.
Brian’s favorite pastimes were fishing and listening to Elvis. He left this earth to fish with Jesus on the day of Elvis’ 90th birthday tribute in Indianapolis. Brian also loved wrestling. He watched Monday Night RAW and Smackdown weekly and took any opportunity to take his children to wrestling events in their childhood.
Brian is preceded in death by his parents, his 7 siblings, and his daughter, Bambi Moss. Brian is survived by his wife, Opal (Liz) Bauer, his daughter Barbara (Gale) Blackburn, his son, Brian Benjamin Bauer. Brian had the privilege to be a grandfather to 9 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Though Brian is no longer with us, his loving heart and wisdom will live on through us all in various ways. The memories we share with Brian will forever be treasured.
