Bernadean “Bernie” Kelly, 65, of Plainfield, passed away on November 29, 2024.
Bernie was born in Cincinnati, OH, on September 22, 1959, to Bernard and Erma (Watkins) Loechel. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman who held various jobs throughout her life to provide for her family. Her relentless work ethic and unwavering love for her family were cornerstones of who she was.
Bernie had a passion for travel, and Washington, D.C., held a special place in her heart. A devoted patriot, she was filled with pride when her eldest granddaughter joined the Marine Corps. Bernie deeply valued her country and spent 15 years actively supporting Wreaths Across America, creating and laying wreaths to honor veterans.
Faith played a central role in her life, and she was a member of Christ Church in Plainfield. She was a tough and straightforward woman who didn’t shy away from speaking her mind. At the same time, her giving spirit and big heart made her a cornerstone of support for her daughters and grandchildren.
Bernie is survived by her mother, Erma Loechel; her husband, Forest Kelly; her daughters, Bernadette Williams, Pam McCullough, and Donna McCullough; her sister, Debbie Moretti; her brother, Kevin Loechel; five granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
