Angela Carr Obituary

Obituary – Reflections of Life

Angela "Angie” Carr was born on May 4, 1943 in Alpine, Alabama to Lucille Little and Leonard Lawson. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and fellowshipped with Bethel Baptist Church. At the age of 21, she relocated to Lansing, Michigan and became a member of New Faith Missionary Baptist Church. She relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana where she attended Eastern Star Church. Angela was married to Clarence Edward Carr for over 30 years who preceded her in death.

She attended Talladega County Schools where she enjoyed learning and being a teacher’s aide. In adulthood she was very passionate about being a homemaker and raising her children. She not only dedicated her entire life to her own children, but also was motherly to other children.  She spent the majority of her life as a childcare provider in both Lansing and Indianapolis. She also worked for Auto Owner Insurance and Lansing Community College.

Angela was kind-hearted and had a very giving nature in which she demonstrated in many ways. She was a great cook who loved to feed families, friends, churches, and the community.  She would often open her home as a loving shelter for those in need of a place to stay. Her favorite pastimes were cooking, reading the Bible, listening to gospel music, helping others, and talking on the telephone with her many friends and family.

On April 22, 2020, the Lord called Angela home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lucille Lawson; three brothers Jeremiah Lawson, J.T. Lawson, M.C. Lawson; five sisters Dinnah Mae Lawson, Lillie Louise Lawson, Minnie Guyton, Dorothy Ruth Lawson Lawler, Katie Belle Lawson.

She leaves to cherish in her memories: three daughters, Cherry Lawson, Celeste (Roosevelt) Lawson-Lindsey, Yolanda (Ai’Dis) Carr-Thomas; and one son, Quincy (Kelly) Carr; nine grandchildren, Chelsea (Steve) Lawson, Paris Lawson, Jasmine Lindsey, Brendon Alviar-Carr, Wesley Lindsey, Desirae Carr, Jalen Lindsey, Quintin Carr, Aaden Carr; three great-grandchildren, Nyla Lindsey, Jaidyn Lawson, Carter Alviar-Carr; three siblings, Leonard D. Lawson, Alec Lawson, and Marie Lawson; goddaughter Angela Smith; special niece Ciera Nordman-McMillen; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her. Angela’s dearest friends include Mary Odunaga, Ann Bridgeman, Beverly “Dee” McKelvey, Hildred Purnell, Margaret Wilkerson and Dorothy Osborne. She was preceded in death by her dear friend Sarah Kimbrough.
