Velma J Calvert, 81, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on May 28, 2019.
Velma was born on June 2, 1937 in Beech Grove, IN to Jacob Nelson and Marsha Eloise (Gillespie) Sedam. Velma had a very strong work ethic and ran her own company Tricounty Asphalt Paving before retiring. In her younger days she was active in the community and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling to Florida and golfing. She was also a fan of Peyton Manning and watched Sunday Football often.
Velma had a very strong faith, and was a member of Southport Christian Church Disciples of Christ and later Franklin Central Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She had a lot love in her heart, and she showered it on those around her. She loved caring for horses when she had them, and was a dog-lover, she doted on them. She was a wonderful mother and loved being a grandmother.
Velma is survived by her children Tom Calvert and Jean Ann Calvert; her brother Don Sedam; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Jacob and Marsha Sedam, Velma is preceded in passing by her husband Wayne Calvert; her daughter Linda Calvert; and her brothers Harold Sedam and Clifford Sedam.
A Memorial Service for Velma will be 10 AM, Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Franklin Central Christian Church Disciples of Christ at 4100 South Franklin Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46239.
