Richard Lee Strode

Richard Lee Strode, 52, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

Richard was born in Indianapolis, IN on February 20, 1966, to Paul and Pamela (Austin) Strode.  For the first half of his life, he was a mechanic, he rebuilt transmissions, before shifting his focus to steel working.  He enjoyed fishing and racing and even rebuilt racecars.  He liked history documentaries, Westerns, and Sci-fy flicks, and their respective channels while they still played quality shows like Wagon Train.  

Richard was handsome, and as a younger man broke quite a few hearts.  He was a prankster, no one was safe from his tricks.  His favorite trick was luring his prey into a false sense of security, then flipping the script on them.  One year he arranged a dummy wearing his clothing on his porch for Halloween, only to replace the dummy with himself Halloween night, successfully scaring the entire neighborhood.  He was always playful, and a very hands-on dad.  He loved playing with his girls, no matter what they were doing.  He had a knack for making the best of any situation and making it fun.  He adored his family and was often the go-to man when help or advice was needed.  He was fortunate enough to marry his childhood sweetheart Lola Goodnight-Strode in 1993, and their love was a shining example of what a romantic partnership should be.   Richard was a character, and the world is a little duller for his passing. 

Richard is survived by his daughters, Marissa, Shalana, and Shantel; his grandchildren Eli, Danica, Clifford, Alexis, Alana, Araya, Richardo, and Jeremiah; his mother Pamela Strode; his siblings Paul Jr, Teresa, Gloria, and Rebecca; many nieces, nephews, and extended family he was very close with.

Richard is preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Lola; his father Paul Garlin Strode Sr; and his granddaughter Hailey.

A Memorial Service for Richard will be 4 PM, Monday, February 11, 2019 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services.  Visitation will be from 1 PM until the hour of service.
