Orville Dalton Abney, 86, of Indianapolis, formerly of Cumberland County, KY, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019.
Orville was born in Cumberland County, KY on March 23, 1932 to John and Ada Mae (Capps) Abney. Orville worked construction before retiring. He loved classic country music and bluegrass. He enjoyed being outside, and grew up hunting and fishing. In his later years he liked to sit on the porch when the weather was nice. He liked stock car racing and playing cards. Orville was a prankster, and it ran in the family; his father was one as well. Orville like his practical jokes, his wife was scared of snakes so he'd hide rubber ones for her to find. One of his favorite tricks was serving people groundhog and telling them after they ate what it was. He enjoyed making people laugh.
Orville is survived by his children, Wilma, Neal, Dalton, Orville Jr, Sherry, Deena, Laura, and Marsha; his brothers James and Junior; many grandchildren including Vincent; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Orville is preceded in passing by his wife, Orvilla; his parents, John and Ada Mae Abney; his son Richel; and his sister Ruby.
Funeral Services for Orville will be 12 PM Noon, Friday, March 8, 2019 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 3-7 PM Thursday, March 7, at the funeral home. Burial will follow Friday's service at New Crown Cemetery.
