Mary Evelyn Mitchell, 82, of Greenwood, formerly of Sholas, IN, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018.
Mary was born in Sholas, IN on March 15, 1936 to the late Leland Edward and Edith Grace (Ray) Grissom. Mary worked for Stockly Van Kamp as an Assembly Line worker for 26 years before retiring. Mary was a woman of strong faith, she loved going to Church and she loved going to Gospel Sings. She was a people person and very social, Mary was the type of person who never met a stranger. Her favorite hobby was shopping, be it thrift stores, garage sales, or regular stores, she could always find the deals. She had a knack for fixing broken toys, of which she would buy and repair, spending hundreds over the years in batteries, and decorating many surfaces with super glue stains. Mary loved spending time with her family, and when they all managed to get together she was over the moon. She was a great woman who will be greatly missed.
Mary is survived by her children, Darlene (Bruce) and Kenneth (Lisa); her grandchildren Terry, Jennifer, Amber, Kenny, and Mikayla; her great-grandchildren Andrew, Savannah, Ryan, and Nicholas; her sisters Francis, Lorene, Phyllis, and Linda; her Church family; and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in passing by her husband, Kenneth Mitchell; and her siblings Imogene, Loretta, Eddie, Delema, and Lelah.
Funeral Services for Mary will be 1 PM, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at House of Victory Church. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The Funeral Home asks anyone wanting to go in procession to the cemetery to park at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services, 1420 Prospect St, Indianapolils, IN 46203.
