Mark "Mick" John Butz

Mark "Mick" John Butz, 66, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018.

Mick was born in Indianapolis, IN on January 19, 1952 to Norbert Butz and Margaret "Peg" N. Butz-Gatchell.  He was happily retired.  Mick was a dedicated Catholic, he may not have had perfect attendance, but his faith was unshakable.  Spring was his favorite season, for what it represented, the promise of things to come.  He believed the anticipation was better than the event himself, preferring a robin's egg to the robin itself.  He loved seeing the first signs of new growth as everything woke up. 

Mick lived in the moment and never rushed, he felt nothing was important enough to drop everything and hurry, instead he rather get to it in his own time.  He loved old westerns and listening to music. He loved music and people's pets.  He always sought out the animals.  He had fond memories of growing up on Flat Rock River.

Mick was a people magnet, everyone knew if they needed support and a listening ear they could come to him.  He was always available as a nonjudgmental source of comfort.  He always had something positive to say, about anybody and any situation, he never wanted it any other way.  He enjoyed sharing ideas both new and old, and shooting the breeze.

Mick is survived by many friends who he considered his family, and many acquaintances who grew to love him. 

Mick is preceded in passing by his parents, Norbert and Peg Butz. 

Funeral Mass for Mick will be 11 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 E 10 St, Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  A reception will follow the burial at the Knights of Columbus, 1040 N Post Rd.
