Gean Phillip Roy, 80, of Indianapolis, formerly of Esto, KY, passed away February 26, 2019.
Gean was born in Esto, KY on July 11, 1938 to Roscoe and Alma (Miller) Roy. After moving to Indianapolis and graduating high school he went on to get many certifications in heating & cooling and maintenance. He was very meticulous and detail oriented, something that helped further his career, to being in Charge of Heating and Refrigeration at Community Hospital East. Gean was a naturalist, he loved being outside. After he retired he volunteered at Fort Harrison State Park. He took classes and was an avid student of the natural world, he knew which plants were safe, which were toxic, and could survive out in the wilderness should the need have arrived. He also enjoyed geocaching and genealogy.
Gean is survived by his son, Phillip Roy, daughters Vanda (Marty) Massey, Pamela (Richard) Melton, Deanna (Howard) Majors; grandsons Mark Rapp, Greg Rapp, Michael Melton, Bradley Majors, and Matthew Majors; and his granddaughters Jennifer King and Brook Melton; and many great grandchildren.
Gean is preceded in passing by his parents, Roscoe and Alma Roy.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
