Emma La Verne Teipen, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018.
Emma was born in Davress County, IN on April 6, 1935 to Dewey and Julia (Flynn) Arvin. Emma grew up on a farm, and liked doing outdoor things in her youth. She enjoyed shucking corn. She liked canning and did it all through her life. She had beautiful penmanship. As she grew older she enjoyed indoor games, like playing cards with her sisters. She was a woman of Faith and had a firm belief in God, and she was a fierce prayer. She loved to do hair and would comment on everyone's. She did everything she could to raise her children right and to raise them to speak the truth. She worked hard to keep a roof over their heads and take care of them. She was a great listener and was someone you could always lean on to trust and listen.
Emma is survived by her daughter, Julia Jaynes; her son Dan (Racquel) Teipen; her granddaughters Brittany and Jessica; and her sisters Jean Dultman, Monica Shuffman, and Ann Gruber.
Emma is preceded in passing by her husband Verge Teipen, her parents Dewey and Julia Arvin; her brothers Norbert Arvin and Leonard Arvin; her sister Ruth Cruse; and her son-in-law David Jaynes.
A Memorial Service will be 12 PM, Noon, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at New Crown Cemetery in the Chapel of Peace.
