Dorothy "Dot" Louise (Johnson) Hogue

Dorothy "Dot" Louise Hogue, 79, of Indianapolis, formerly of Portland, TN, passed away July 5, 2018.

Dot was born to Rodney and Amy (Feral) Johnson in Portland, TN on April 30, 1939.  Due to the times, her birth was recorded on May 5, 1939 and thus she had multiple birthdays, and celebrated the whole week from one to the other.  She met and married her husband while she was in High School, and she devoted her life to being a homemaker, with the exception of one year she worked at a thrift store.  She was very proud of having a job and earning her own money  She was a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years with Winsor Village Baptist Church, and a woman of strong faith.  She was into sewing, and talented at it.  She often did cross-stitching.  Dot was social and liked going to Tops, a diet club.  Not one lacking in a strong worth ethic and determination, she lost over 120 pounds.  Her favorite thing in the world was spending time with her family, and doting on all her grandchildren.  She loved taking trips with her sisters and her close friends, to anywhere they fancied.  

Dot is survived by her children, David (Melisa) Hogue and Teresa (Mike Ferry) Johnson; her grandchildren Thomas Michael, Monica Bayes, and Michelle Hogue; her great-grandchildren Nastasha Johnson, Gianna Johnson, Lexis Bayes, and Little Mikey; special friends Carolyn Steel and Teri Lauman; her nieces Amy (Phillip), Anita, and Rita (Rudy); her nephews Lattie (Coetta), Rodney, Tony (Thenea), and Jimmy; niece-in-law Sharon; and many great-nieces and nephews, friends, and church family.

Dot is preceded in passing by her Husband of over 50 years, Leroy Hogue; her parents Rodney and Amy Johnson; her sisters Alleita Rhodes, Doris Lewis, and Judy Locke; and her special friend Barbara Elder. 

Funeral Services for Dot will be 12 PM, Monday, July 9, 2018 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services.  Visitation will be from 10 AM until the hour of service.  Burial will follow at New Crown Cemetery.
