David "Uncle Dave" C Bertram

David  C "Uncle Dave"  Bertram, 58, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018.

David was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 18, 1960 to Charles Donald and Retha May (Whited) Bertram.  David was the baby of the family, and very close with his mother.  They would often spend time with each other, their favorite activity was going to the casino.  David was always popular, he was funny and charismatic, and a natural salesman.  He worked at Ashley Furniture where he put his talents to use for many years.  He  just had a special spark about him that drew others in.  

He enjoyed being social and for a time was a member of the Elks in Greencastle.  He liked taking long drives and talking about old times, he had a memory like a steel trap.  He enjoyed traveling by plane and sight-seeing.  He was very creative and he  often wrote poems for significant occasions.  Recently two of his poems were read on the radio, he was great with words.  

David is survived by his sisters, Peggy Hicks,  and Janet Cornwell; nieces and nephews include  Michael, Chad (Shelli), Jeremy (Jaime), Michelle (Tony), Rachel (Chris), Amy, Anthony (Tina), Candice (Kyle), JC (Cordney), and Adrienne; and many friends. David is preceded in passing by his parents, Charles and Retha Bertram;  brother Joseph and nephew Jeffrey

David's family would like to extend a  warm and special  thank-you to  their newfound " family " Ashley Furniture, for  all of their support and help during this time. David treasured his time spent with his co-workers and being employed by Ashley Furniture, and now his family understands why.  

Funeral Services for David will be 1 PM, Monday, July 30, 2018 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services, 1420 Prospect St, Indianapolis, IN 46203.  Visitation will be from 11 AM until the hour of service.  Burial will follow at New Crown Cemetery.
