Alene Carter, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018.
Alene was born in Oneida, KY on June 30, 1949 to Elbert and Estelle (Hamlin) Burns. She loved cooking and was a talented cake decorater. Her standout recipes were her potato salad and her peach cobbler. She was a very godly woman and a member of the Lighthouse Christian Church. She had a beautiful singing voice and was a proud member of the choir. She even played guitar on occasion along with her singing. She was generous and lovable, and had a habit of picking up any stray that came her way, be it cat, dog, or human.
Alene had no enemies, she had a heart of pure gold and loved by all. She adored her family and doted on them, she was the glue that held everyone together. Her favorite saying was "you don't have to be rich as long as you have love" and she lived her life by those words, every thing she did was infused with love.
Alene is survived by her husband, Michael Carter; her children Darlene Abner, Catina Gray, Larry Thompson, and Melinda Gail Carter; her grandchildren Donnie Abner, Jeremiah Payton, Latasha Gray, Josh Abner, Carmelina Carter, Terry Gray II, Joseph Carter, Joshua Shaine Thompson, Ashley Long; 8 great-grandchildren; her siblings Carol Carver, Sherry Burns, Patricia Burns, and Randy Burns; and many nieces and nephews.
Alene is preceded in passing by her parents, Elbert and Estelle Burns.
Funeral Services for Alene will be 12 PM, Noon, Wednesday September 12, 2018 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 3-7 PM Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the Services Wednesday at New Crown Cemetery.
