Monte Smith Obituary

Today, we bid farewell to Monte "Grumpy" Dale Smith, a true connoisseur of the macabre. Born on October 17, 1961, in the heart of Indianapolis, Monte's journey through life was as thrilling and unpredictable as the horror movie plots he so adored.

As a truck driver, Monte's wanderlust knew no bounds. His tireless spirit longed for the open road, where every mile brought him closer to the next spine-tingling adventure. And wherever he traveled, Monte seemed to have a knack for turning strangers into friends, his infectious charisma leaving an unforgettable mark on all who crossed his path.

But it was Monte's love for all things dark and eerie that truly set him apart. From the allure of the Rocky Horror Picture Show to the chilling embrace of zombie flicks and everything in between, Monte reveled in the shadows, finding beauty in the darkness that most feared. His collection of memorabilia and body art served as a testament to his dedication to the spooky aesthetic.

Beneath his gruff exterior lay a heart as vast and deep as the darkest abyss. Despite his ornery demeanor, Monte was always true to himself, never putting on airs or pretending to be anything other than exactly who he was, love him or hate him for it. And though some may have mistaken his rough edges for not caring, those who knew him best understood that Monte possessed a kindness and generosity that knew no bounds. He gave of himself freely, never expecting anything in return, his selflessness touching the lives of countless souls.

Monte is survived by his son Todd (Megan) Smith; his grandchildren Breauna, Devin, Breyden, Kyler, and Axyl; his extended family members, countless friends, and immeasurable connections. Monte is preceded in passing by his parents.

As we say our final farewells, we offer Monte one last journey into the great unknown, bidding him, "Hey driver, we got it from here. Your next stop is the Pearly Gates. Speed out”
