Richard Lee Smith Sr, 82, of Indianapolis passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017.  Richard was born on October 17, 1934 in Indianapolis to the late Thomas Ray and Francis (Percy) Smith.  After graduating High School he went on to work for Link Belt until retiring.  Richard was a music lover, especially Elvis.  He collected records.  His best friend for many years was Tommy Lam, and he enjoyed going to the bars where his friend played.  He also collected coins, and loved cars.

Richard is survived by his children, Richard Smith Jr, Thomas Joe Smith, Cathy Jo Smith, and John Robert Smith; 9 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in passing by his wife, Joann (Hargraves) Smith, whom passed in 1972; and his best friend Tommy Lam.

Service for Richard will be 1 PM, Monday, March 13, 2017, at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the hour of service.  Burial will be at 2:30 PM at Washington Park East Cemetery.
