Melissa M Hale-Mitchell, 49, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017.  Melissa was born on February 19, 1968 to Lawrence and Marie Hale.  She was a pioneer in the electronics field, learning installation and paving the way for other women to come after her.  She also worked as an operating engineer, where she would operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers.  Again, as one of the first women to do so.  Melissa was tough as nails, she did not take flak from anyone, a necessity of her chosen professions.  She was strong, both mentally and physically.  She pushed through the pain and was ready to get right back out there.  

She could shoot a bow, but as far as hunting went she would rather sit out in nature and observe the animals, not having the heart to shoot them.  She was a great animal lover and sometimes when she was out in the woods, the animals would come up to her, curious.  Melissa also liked gardening various plants and flowers.  She was very nature orientated.  Above all, Melissa adored her family.  She was a great mom to her three children, and a wonderful wife to Brian.  She loved her family as fiercely as she did everything else in her life, with everything she had.  She will be missed.

Melissa is survived by her beloved husband, Brian Mitchell; her children Kathryn Marie Mitchell, Gage Mitchell, and Cameron Mitchell; her father Lawrence Hale; her sister Karen Haag; and many aunts, nieces, and nephews.  Melissa is preceded in passing by her mother, Marie Hale.
