LITTLE KENNY “MAINE” BROWN
It was in the year, 1971 {Marion County} Indiana on January 13 that the oldest child entered the union of Mroe Brown and Georgia Mae Woodson Perkins. They named him Little Kenny. From an early age he confessed in Christ.
Little Kenny, affectionately called “Maine” by his family and many friends. His presence brought so much delight, joy, and happiness into the family. He had a passionate love for his music, which he made sure spread into every aspect of his life. He would never leave home without music, including numerous tapes, cds, and later digital files, and with a way to listen to them. He loved all types of music, with blues being his favorite, a trait he inherited directly from his father.
In addition to listening to music, Maine was also a constant dancer. He was the black Fred Astaire, but without the Ginger Rogers. He didn’t have a favorite dance; he let the music lead the way.
Maine was a jokester and loved to clown around. He loved his family. Any time there was a gathering – be it BBQ, get-together, anything – he was there. Come hell or high water, he would find a way to be in attendance. He had a winning smile that will be missed.
Maine attended the Indianapolis Public School #114, #111, and Thomas Carr Howe High School. Maine was employed for 10 years with the Indiana State Fair. He also held several side hustles throughout the city.
Maine received his wings on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the age of 47 years and 22 days.
He is preceded in death by his father, Mroe Brown; his maternal grandmother Ms. Corareen Woodson; his uncle Harry Woodson; and his nephew Baby Curtis Brown.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Georgia Mae Woodson Perkins and stepfather Robert L Perkins; two sons Jamale Brown and Kenvonta Brown; one daughter LaTasha Davis; five grandchildren Ja’Marrion Brown, Jonthavion Davis, Jamyala Brown, Charlye Davis, and baby Cahrie Brown on the way; his brothers Joe Woodson and Kenneth Perkins; two sisters Twanda Brown and Kenya Perkins; two stepsisters Nashika and LaShawna; four aunts Patricia Watson, Coralee Bech, Carrie Woodson, and Joyce Woodson; five uncles George (Gloria) Woodson, Roylee (Barbara) Woodson, Leron (Sherry) Woodson, Tyice (Courtney) Woodson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
