Leevelma Caldwell Obituary

Leevelma Caldwell, 61, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.

Leevelma Caldwell was born on January 29, 1957 in Goodwater, Alabama to Abe White and Mary Caldwell-Scruggs, where she received her education. At an early age, she confessed Christ. As a young girl her mother moved her and her siblings to the city of Indianapolis, Indiana where she then later had her 7 children.

Leevelma, affectionately called ‘Popeye’, was the light of every place she graced. Her smile would light up any room and her heart was as pure as rain. Popeye would open her home to any person in need. She would never allow anyone to go hungry or homeless. Her home and heart were always open to anyone in need.
Leevelma was well known for her card parties, which always had blues music in the background. Whenever she had a party at the ‘hole in the wall’, you could always find her on the dance floor. Leevelma enjoyed going to Pathway Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and host of other family and friends.
Popeye was loved by all that knew her, and she will be deeply missed. Leevelma Caldwell departed this life and became an angel for all who knew her on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 61 years and 37 days.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Caldwell-Scruggs, father, Abe White, step-father, Percy Scruggs, grandmother, Leola Marbury, grandfather, Robert McGhee, son, Manual Caldwell, brother, Dallas Caldwell, and sister Arlethea Bonner.

The memories of Ms. Caldwell will live forever in the hearts of her close friend, Irving Freeling, her six children, Jermaine Gadis (Lisa), Felicia Caldwell, Pamela Adkins, Will Martin, Jr., Robert Martin and Angelo Martin; two sisters Arthelma Webster (Bill) and Sandra Simmons (Dewey); six brothers Lonnie Caldwell (Elizabeth), Michael Caldwell, Leonard Caldwell, Farrell Freeman, Tyrone Freeman (Tiffany), and James Caldwell; fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
