James Albert Lawson, 83, passed away August 18, 2016 at home surrounded by his loved ones. James was born on January 2, 1933 in Albany, Kentucky to the late John and Virgie Jane (Shelton) Lawson. James served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, where he was a Petty Officer 2nd Class. He was a machinist with Ford Motors for many years before retiring.
James loved John Wayne and reading. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and going to caves. His favorite pastimes were gardening and spending time with his grandkids, who he took everywhere.
James is survived by his wife, Charlotte Lawson; his son, Chris (Andrea) Lawson and step-son, Tom Lyons; his grandchildren Crystal (Michael), Josh, Alyssa, Kayla, Kimberly, Kelly, and Tommy; his great-grandchildren Bryce, Robbie, Alyssa, Angel, Kallie, Jade, Austin, Emma, Haley and September with a great-grandson Elliot on the way; and sister Thelma Daughtery. James is preceded in passing by a son, Jackie Allen Lawson, and two brothers Felix and Richard Lawson.
Pastor Greg York will conduct a service for James at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Southeastern Church of Christ. Family and friends are welcome to visit from 11 until the hour of service at the church. James will be laid to rest with military honors at Memorial Park Cemetery. www.fountainsquaremortuary.com.
