Delores Raeann Smith, 64, of Indianapolis passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

Delores was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 20, 1953 to Joesph Heigl and Emma Dean (Wallace) Couch.  She was one of those people who was naturally in charge of any situation, and used this ability to become Manager wherever she worked, most recently at Speedway.  She was with the love of her life, Charles Smith for 27 years.  After meeting over CB radio their courtship began.  Delores cooked her way into his heart, and the rest was history.  Delores loved cooking and was great at it, although she only knew how to cook for an entire army.  Thanksgiving was her Super Bowl, and she made an extensive, extravagant meal every year.  Her other favorite holiday was Christmas, and every winter she would build an entire miniature village in her front yard, that people from all over would come to see.  The lights were so bright the neighbors across the street would have to turn their bed around to get some sleep.

Delores and Charles also had a deal, they would not get each other gifts.  So they would often use their daughter Andrea as the middle man, sneaking gifts to her to wrap for the other.  Delores liked to collect things, and no one was ever allowed to throw anything away, because she might need it.  She was found of gnomes and had a funny sense of humor.  She liked to be outside, so long as it was not too hot.  She enjoyed watching TV, especially Special Victims Unit and cooking shows.  

Above everything, she loved her family.  She adored her kids, her husband, and her grandkids.  They were the most important people to her, and she loved them with all her heart.

Delores is survived by her husband, Charles Smith; her children Andrea (Curtis) Stewart and Jason (Kelly Teckenbrock) Reese; her grandchildren Michael, Ashley, Jasona, Krista, Heavenly, Alexis, and Jason; and her great- grandchildren Kyleigh, Karleigh, Kayleish, Dylan Jo, Raiden, and Jaylan. 

Delores is preceded in passing by her parents.

Funeral Service for Delores will be 1 PM Monday, September 25 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services.  Visitation will be from 11 AM until the hour of service.  Burial will follow at New Crown Cemetery.
