David Vernon Spencer, 63, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 13, 2016. David was born in L.A., California on November 25, 1952 to the late Vernon Kenneth and Reva Ethel (Reams) Spencer. David was preceded in death by his son, David Spencer Jr. David loved music and dancing. He was a huge Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, and especially, Elvis fan. He used to comb his hair back and imitate Elvis. David was a wonderful singer, and a talented French Harp (harmonica) player. He could even listen to a song and teach himself how to play it. He was also an avid fisherman, he loved fishing. He and his brothers would often skip school to go fishing, much to their mothers chagrin. He loved the companionship and peacefulness of it. David was also an animal lover. He will be missed.
David is survived by his wife, Frances Spencer; his children, Twana Parson, Johnny (Misty) Crockett, Lori (Bill) Clark, Rose (Bill Monroe) Crockett, Peggy Lynnard, Jimmy Crockett, and Janet (Daniel) McCauley; his grandchildren, Whitney and Kelsey Hunt, and numerous others; numerous great-grandchildren with more on the way; his siblings, Janet Spencer, Wayne Spencer, Ray (Evelyn) Spencer, Gary Spencer, Larry Spencer, Belinda Graves, Trina Mikesell, Cindy Spillmann; many nieces and nephews, including Jason (Angie) Spencer; and beloved pets, Buddy, Elvis, Princess, and Ladybug; and many more cousins and friends.
Service for David will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
