Brenda Graham Obituary

Brenda Sue Graham, 70, of Indianapolis, formerly of West Virginia, passed away February 12, 2018.

Brenda was born on August 17, 1947 in West Virginia to the late Azra and Betty I (Lester) West.  She was a homemaker all her life.  Brenda had a heart of gold, and she was a mother to everyone.  She took care of everyone, and her home was always open.  Her place was often so full of people, that wherever there was a spare spot of floor, that's where you slept.  She would often give so much of what she had, she would do without.  But to her, the sacrifice was always worth it, especially for the people she loved.  Anyone was welcome at her house, and she was known to sometimes extend that hospitality to strangers.

She was always there for a shoulder to cry on, or to give advice.  Her most common words of wisdom were "Do what you can" and she always believed that if you did the best you could, things would work out and you had nothing to be ashamed of.  She loved kids and being around them.  She was a great cook, and made biscuits that were mouthwatering, putting any other to shame.  Her favorite food was beans.  She enjoyed grocery shopping, which to her was an all day event, needing to go down every single aisle in the store, because she never wanted to miss something.  And you needed to bring your big vehicle to accommodate all her bags.  Brenda didn't know how to shop or cook for anything less than an army, which her house was always full of people she loved.  She had a traveler's soul and loved to move, but always made sure everyone knew where to find her should they need her.

Brenda is survived by her children, Chris (Dawn), Pat (Bev), Saundra (Ronald), Scotty, Robby, and Vanessa; her grandchildren Phillip, Sarah, Coti, Amanda, Ronald II, and Rodney; her great grandchild Jeremy II; her sisters Thelma and Barbara; her husband Mark; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and she was a mother to all.

In addition to her parents, Brenda is preceded in passing by her siblings Mac, Eli, Hansel, and Katie.
